Thunder struck by the lowly Wizards

JOHN WALL scored 25 points, Nick Young had 24 and Jordan Crawford added 18 to lead host Washington to a 105-102 victory over Oklahoma City last night, snapping the Thunder's seven-game winning streak and giving the Wizards just their second win of the season.

Oklahoma City lost for only the third time in 15 games, getting 69 points from Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. During one stretch bridging the second and third quarters, the duo accounted for 21 of the Thunder's 23 points. Both slowed down after resting at the start of the fourth, missing 11 of 17 from the field.

After the Wizards missed their first six three-pointers, Young hit four and the team made seven of 10 in the third and into the fourth.

Durant missed a potential tying three with 1.9 seconds left.

 

In other games

* At New York, Steve Nash had 26 points and 11 assists, Shannon Brown hit a crucial three-pointer that was as ugly as this game, and the Phoenix Suns snapped a five-game losing streak with a 91-88 victory over the Knicks.

Brown and Grant Hill each scored 14 points for the Suns, who bounced back from an embarrassing 118-97 loss to a Chicago team without Derrick Rose a night earlier.

* At Orlando, Tony Parker scored 25 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter and overtime, and San Antonio held on to beat the Magic, 85-83, in overtime. Tim Duncan added 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Spurs also snapped a streak of 10 consecutive road losses overall, dating to last season. The Magic were led by Dwight Howard with 24 points and 25 rebounds.

* At Newark, N.J., Deron Williams scored 24 points, 11 coming in a crucial stretch of the fourth quarter, and had 10 assists and eight rebounds, leading the New Jersey Nets to their first home win, a 107-100 victory against the Golden State Warriors.

* At Boston, Rajon Rondo scored 13 of his 21 points in the first quarter and the Celtics ended a five-game losing streak with a 96-73 win over the reeling Toronto Raptors. Rondo was knocked out of the game with a sore right wrist after being leveled on a flagrant foul by Linus Kleiza late in the third quarter.

* At New Orleans, Marc Gasol had a season-high 22 points and 12 rebounds, and the Memphis Grizzlies extended their winning streak to four with a 93-87 victory over the struggling New Orleans Hornets.

* At Atlanta, Joe Johnson scored 24 points and came up with a key defensive play down the stretch, leading the Hawks to their fourth straight victory since losing All-Star center Al Horford, 92-89, over the Portland Trail Blazers.

* At Minneapolis, Kevin Love had 20 points and 17 rebounds and the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a dreadful start to the game to slug out a 93-85 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

* At Sacramento, Marcus Thornton scored 17 points and DeMarcus Cousins added 13 points and 19 rebounds as the Kings defeated the Indiana Pacers, 92-88.
