Carson Stack always thought he would play college football.

Now, he's committed to college wrestling.

Stack has accepted a scholarship offer from Davidson College, a Division I wrestling program that competes in the Southern Conference. The school is about 20 miles north of Charlotte, N.C.

"It's a great opportunity for me athletically and academically," Stack said.

Stack is one of the top 195-pound wrestlers in the state. He has a 14-0 record this season. He was 35-4 at 189 pounds last season.

Stack also was a top offensive lineman and linebacker for Haddonfield's football team in the fall. He had 59 tackles as the Bulldogs went 11-1, won the Colonial Conference Liberty Division, and reached the South Jersey Group 2 final.

"I always thought I would play football in college," Stack said. "But I've gotten better and better in wrestling every year and I know that's what I want to do."

His brother, Cal Stack, is a former Eastern High standout who wrestles for Lehigh.

"I know at Davidson I'll have the ability to push myself to my full potential as an athlete," Carson Stack said.

Stack said he was likely to major in economics. He made an official visit to Davidson in early October.

"The campus is awesome," Stack said. "It's a small school but seems like such a great place."
