Neumann-Goretti tuned up for Friday's first-place Catholic League boys' basketball showdown with St. Joseph's Prep by handing host Monsignor Bonner a 54-26 setback on Sunday.
John Davis had 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Jamal Custis added eight boards for the Saints.
Also in the Catholic League, Conwell-Egan followed Jamal Nwaniemeka's 27 points and 13 rebounds, and Ryan Pepito's career-best 16 points to a 68-57 success at Bishop McDevitt. Pepito also dealt six assists.
Battle by the Bay. Team MVP Basil Thompson contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds to Math, Civics & Sciences' 66-51 win over Oakcrest at Atlantic City.
Shipley scored 18 of the first 21 points of the game and claimed a 54-45 win over Prep Charter, ranked No. 2 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, in the Hoop Mountain Invitational at Hammonton, N.J.
Aja Ellison scored 17 points, hauled in eight rebounds and blocked five shots to take team MVP honors, while Jordyn Turner had 16 points and seven boards, and Sox Alexander added seven assists and seven steals for the Gators.
