Residents find racist graffiti
* Knorr Street between Hawthorne and Frankford Avenue, Mayfair
Nearly two dozen cars were spray-painted with graffiti yesterday in Mayfair, including some that were painted with racial slurs, according to police.
The vandalism occurred in 3100, 3200 and 3300 blocks of Knorr Street and was reported when residents awoke about 7:30 a.m. yesterday.
A total of 23 cars were sprayed and had an unknown liquid poured on them, police said. A can of spray paint was found outside of a house, but police have not identified the vandals.
Partygoer shot during holdup
* Roselyn Street near 17th, Ogontz
A 19-year-old woman was shot twice in her legs during a holdup at a house party in Ogontz early yesterday, police said.
During the party, a guest tried to go to the second floor of the house, but when he was prevented from doing so, he pulled out a gun and went to the basement area where he robbed several of the partygoers of about $200, police said.
As the gunman was leaving through a rear basement door about 4:15 a.m., he fired two to three shots, striking the 19-year-old woman. The woman was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she remained yesterday in stable condition.
Police could not immediately confirm initial reports that the house was operating as an unlicensed strip club or go-go bar.
The robber is described as a black man about 6 feet 4 and 170 pounds, in his early 30s. He had a scruffy mustache and beard and was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans.
Man fatally
stabs cousin
* Cottage Street near Devereaux Avenue, Wissinoming
It's a sad tale of two Alberts.
A man named Albert Smith was stabbed to death in Wissinoming Friday night by his roommate and cousin, Albert Hauck, 49, police said.
At 11:27 p.m., police found Smith, 50, with a stab wound to the left side of his chest. He was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m.
Smith lived on Cottage Street with his cousin, who was arrested and charged with murder. Police said an argument, the nature of which remains unknown, led to the stabbing.
Bus crashes, driver flees
* Chester Avenue near 53rd Street, Kingsessing
A bus crashed into a parked SUV in Kingsessing early Saturday morning and police are still searching for the driver, who ran from the scene.
About 3:30 a.m., the bus, registered to the Yellow Bird bus company, crashed into a parked car on Chester Avenue near 53rd Street, according to police.
When authorities arrived, the driver of the vehicle was gone but the keys remained in the ignition.
Police said the bus had not been reported stolen. They did not say who might have been driving it at the time of the crash.
