Jefferson president is retiring

Thomas J. Lewis, who has been president of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals since 1990, is retiring June 30, the organization's board announced Thursday. David McQuaid, Thomas Jefferson's chief operating officer since 2007, will assume the title of president July 1. The board will make a comprehensive search before naming a CEO. Lewis, 59, who was named chief executive in 1995, led Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals through significant changes, including the formation of Jefferson Health System with Main Line Health and additions of Wills Eye and Methodist Hospitals to Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. Jefferson Health System had $2.95 billion in revenue in the fiscal year ended June 30.

PREIT plans clinic at Plymouth mall

Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust on Thursday announced an agreement to provide a Mercy Health System wellness satellite aligned with Mercy Suburban Hospital. The 23,500-square-foot outpatient ambulatory center is scheduled to open at Plymouth Meeting Mall in September. The center will include a primary-care physician and specialists' offices; physical therapy and noninvasive procedure suites; imaging facilities; and a walk-in clinic. The space will be accessible from both inside and outside the mall, PREIT said.

Revel Casino sets April 2 preview

The $2.4 billion Revel Casino, Atlantic City's first fully smoke-free casino resort, will begin an eight-week preview, starting April 2. Guests can begin staying in the casino's 1,400 rooms that day, as well as sample seven of the 14 restaurants set to open. The other restaurants will follow in staggered openings, according to CEO Kevin DeSanctis in a conference call Thursday. Revel's gaming floor, a 700-seat entertainment venue, and one of 10 pools will be open to guests April 2. The mega-casino, the first to open in Atlantic City since the Borgata in July 2003, is scheduled for a grand opening May 25 to kick off Memorial Day weekend.
