Fri. Pa. boys' roundup: Ryan stays hot, defeats McDevitt

Archbishop Ryan continued on its torrid pace Friday night as the Raiders easily dropped visiting Catholic League basketball foe Bishop McDevitt, 60-44.

Ryan has now won six of its last seven games by an average margin of 15.2 points per game. Chris McMonagle led the way with eight rebounds and Christian Rivera knocked down 6 of his 8 field goal attempts. Bryan Okolo added a game-high 23 points.

Also in the Catholic League, Jamal Nwaniemeka grabbed 13 rebounds and Ryan Pepito poured in a career-high 18 points as host Conwell-Egan topped Archbishop Wood, 60-47.

Scheduled to be closed at the end of the school year, West Catholic and Monsignor Bonner both lost their final home games.

West fell to Archbishop Carroll, 68-55, as Alec Stavetski hit three threes in the third quarter. Marquese Daniels led West with 19 points. La Salle shot 14 for 15 from the line in the fourth to top Bonner, 58-44. Paul Pfeffinger had 11 points for Bonner.

Shep Garner dished off five assists and grabbed seven rebounds as Roman Catholic rolled over host Father Judge, 62-48, at Mayfair's St. Matthew's grade school.

Garner, a sophomore guard, dropped a team-high 16 points. Raquan Brown-Johnson added seven rebounds. Steve Griffin led the Crusaders with 17 points.

Suburban One. Austin Nyekan hit a foul shot with 1.2 seconds left to give Bensalem a 54-53 win over visiting Council Rock South.

Ryan Connolly grabbed eight rebounds and dropped in 20 points as Souderton rolled at Central Bucks East, 59-46.Mark Wonderling added 15 points.

Josh Villanueva hit three three-pointers to lead Upper Moreland past host Upper Merion, 43-39. Nick Corbett knocked down three of his six foul shots in the fourth to seal the win.

Abington knocked down all four of its three-pointers in the third quarter en route to topping visiting Truman, 69-53. Anthony Durham dished out nine assists to go along with his 12 points.

Kierna Bolger's 13 points led Pennsbury over visiting William Tennent, 59-41.

Bicentennial. Holy Ghost Prep clinched a share of the league title with a 64-28 rout at MaST Charter. Tim Lazorko led with eight assists. It's the fifth title in a row for Holy Ghost and it shares the crown with Lower Moreland.

Pioneer. Ryan Keefe shot 7 for 12 from the floor and Darryl Branch grabbed 12 rebounds as host Spring-Ford downed Pope John Paul II, 55-45, in the league semifinal.
