1 seriously hurt in minivan-school bus crash in Glouco

The driver of a minivan was seriously injured today in a head-on crash with a school bus in Washington Township, police said.

There were some children on the school bus, but they and the driver of the vehicle were not seriously hurt, said Lt. Dennis Sims.

The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road near Teresa Way.

The driver of the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicle and was flown by helicopter to the trauma center at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, according to Sims and emergency radio broadcasts from the scene.

The privately owned school bus was transporting students to a Gloucester County Special School District school in Deptford, Sims said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
