Jeff the Brotherhood

The hairy Nashville dudes in Jeff the Brotherhood are indeed brothers, but neither of them is named Jeff. They're Jake and Jamin Orrall, and together the sons of songwriter-producer Robert Ellis Orrall (who's worked with Taylor Swift and Lindsay Lohan) make up a two-man band of impressive dexterity. The proof of the Orrall brothers' aplomb is We Are the Champions, their second album on their own Infinity Cat label, which is a diverse platter packed with surprisingly, tightly constructed punk-pop and garage-rock. On Friday, Jeff the Brotherhood headline a four-act bill at PhilaMOCA, the onetime mausoleum showroom turned all-purpose art space, for a show that also features Bad Doctors, Hound, and Push Ups.

Dum Dum Girls / Veronica Falls

Dum Dum Girls' first two albums were in part produced by Richard Gottehrer, who helped to write the Angels' girl group classic "My Boyfriend's Back," who was a member of the Strangeloves (of "I Want Candy" fame), and who produced the first two Blondie albums. Gottehrer's credentials reveal a lot about the joys of the Dum Dum Girls' tough, catchy, streetwise guitar-pop. Led by Dee Dee (real name: Kristen Gundred), whose voice has a bit of Chrissie Hynde's sass, Dum Dum Girls mine a sweet-spot between the big-hearted emotions of early '60s pop and the tough love of The Ramones. They're paired nicely with London's Veronica Falls, who look back to the mid-'80s hard-strummed sound of bands like The Pastels, Shop Assistants, and The Vaselines, whose song "Dum-Dum" is partly responsible (along with Iggy Pop) for their tourmates' moniker.

- Steve Klinge

Dum Dum Girls with Veronica Falls play at 9 p.m. Friday at Voyeur, 1221 Saint James St. Tickets: $10. Information: 215-735-5772, www.voyeurnightclub.com.
