VILLANOVA'S leading scorer, junior point guard Maalik Wayns, has been listed as "day-to-day" after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Tuesday's 74-72 win over Providence at the Pavilion.
The Roman Catholic High product, who is averaging 17.8 points per game, underwent an MRI on Wednesday, and was evaluated yesterday by Dr. Rob Good, the Villanova team orthopedist.
Wayns hasn't practiced since getting injured. Against the Friars, he sat out the last 11 1/2 minutes.
"The No. 1 concern for all of us is Maalik's long-term health," coach Jay Wright said in a statement. "We will be conservative with his rehab and recovery from this setback."
