The newest addition to Phosphor's digital "E ink" watches is aptly named the Appear. As the time goes by, tiny rotors behind a face surface of Swarovski crystals revolve to display the changing time or date. Each minute an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals. The default mode is a 12-hour display, with the hours shown above the minutes on the face. Push a button on the side of watch and you see just the seconds flashing by. In the very cool "off" mode, the numbers vanish; all you see are the sparkly crystals. The nylon resin bracelet model comes in pink, black, or steel tones. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (about 164 feet). Quite magical.
Phosphor Appear Watch with nylon bracelet is $225 at www.phosphorwatches.com, or call On Top Resources Limited; 866-588-6464.
