Pa. Boys: Ryan storms past McDevitt; Conwell-Egan defeats Wood

Archbishop Ryan continued on its torrid pace Friday night as the Raiders easily dropped visiting Catholic League basketball foe Bishop McDevitt, 60-44.

Ryan has now won six of its last seven games by an average margin of 15.2 points per game. Chris McMonagle led the way with eight rebounds and Christian Rivera knocked down 6 of his 8 field goal attempts. Bryan Okolo added a game-high 23 points.

Also in the Catholic League, Jamal Nwaniemeka grabbed 13 rebounds and Ryan Pepito poured in a career-high 18 points as host Conwell-Egan topped Archbishop Wood, 60-47.

Scheduled to be closed at the end of the school year, West Catholic and Monsignor Bonner both lost their final home games.

West fell to Archbishop Carroll, 68-55, as Alec Stavetski hit three threes in the third quarter. Marquese Daniels led West with 19 points. La Salle shot 14 for 15 from the line in the fourth to top Bonner, 58-44. Paul Pfeffinger had 11 points for Bonner.

Shep Garner dished off five assists and grabbed seven rebounds as Roman Catholic rolled over host Father Judge, 62-48, at Mayfair's St. Matthew's grade school.

Suburban One. Austin Nyekan hit a foul shot with 1.2 seconds left to give Bensalem a 54-53 win over visiting Council Rock South.

Bicentennial. Holy Ghost Prep clinched a share of the league title with a 64-28 rout at MaST Charter. Tim Lazorko led with eight assists. It's the fifth title in a row for Holy Ghost and it shares the crown with Lower Moreland.

Pioneer. Ryan Keefe shot 7 for 12 from the floor and Darryl Branch grabbed 12 rebounds as host Spring-Ford downed Pope John Paul II, 55-45, in the league semifinal.

Inter-Ac. Sean O'Brien's seven points in overtime helped Penn Charter knock off visiting Episcopal Academy, 54-47. Mike McGlinchey added 12 rebounds.

Wrestling

After dropping a quarterfinal match earlier in the day, Owen J. Roberts bounced back to top Parkland, 36-27, in the State Class AAA Consolation round at Hershey.

The Wildcats won four straight matches from 132 pounds to 152 pounds to seal the win. Adam Moser highlighted the stretch with a tight 6-4 win over Josh Ortman at 138 pounds.

Owen J. Roberts had dropped to the consolation bracket after a 36-25 loss to Mechanicsburg and will attempt to reach third place on Saturday.

La Salle lost its AAA quarterfinal and was eliminated in the consolation round by North Allegheny, 37-21. Matt Cimato picked up two wins, as he majored North Allegheny's Vincent Leschak at 138 pounds. In the quarterfinal, the senior recorded a 3:08 pin at 145 pounds as La Salle fell to Central Dauphin, 51-18.

Norristown was eliminated after it fell to Easton, 47-19, in the AAA consolation round. Shane Springer opened the match with a pin for the Eagles at 170 pounds.

In the AA consolation round, Lower Moreland was eliminated with a 55-18 loss to West Branch. Nick Brunswick scored the Lions' lone pin in 1:44 at 195 pounds.
