Missing N.J. boy found in Indiana with mother

A state trooper in Indiana on the lookout for robbers Saturday afternoon started an investigation that led to a 6-year-old boy who had been abducted in New Jersey.

According to the state police, Trooper Rich Silcox saw a man parking a car with New Jersey plates at a CVS drugstore in Knightstown, about 35 miles east of Indianapolis. The store had been robbed recently, so Silcox ran a check on the plate.

The car was listed as stolen, and Silcox was notified that it was connected with a woman who had left the state unlawfully with her 6-year-old son.

The woman and boy were found in nearby Spiceland.

The boy was to be reunited with his father in New Jersey. Indiana authorities did not say where the man lived.

The boy's mother had not been charged with abduction because New Jersey decided not to extradite her, the state police said in a news release.
