A Philadelphia police officer was arrested for allegedly beating his wife last month, the department said Monday.
Officer Dwayne Carter, 25, was arrested Friday following an investigation of an incident on Jan. 21 in the 5500 block of Chester Avenue during which Carter, who was off-duty, allegedly assaulted his wife.
Carter, who was assigned to the 22d District in North Phialdelphia, has been with the department for four years, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endagering another person.
Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey has ordered that Carter, who has been with the department for four years, be fired.
