A Philadelphia police officer was arrested on charges that he beat his wife last month, the department said Monday.
Officer Dwayne Carter, 25, was arrested Friday after an investigation of a Jan. 21 altercation in the 5500 block of Chester Avenue during which Carter, who was off-duty, allegedly assaulted his wife, authorities said.
Carter, who was assigned to the 22d District in North Philadelphia, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey has ordered that Carter, who has been with the department for four years, be fired. - Robert Moran
