Tues. Pa. boys' roundup: Methacton wins PAC-10 crown

Brendan Casper led Methacton in scoring and rebounding, and also led the Warriors to a celebration after they beat host Spring-Ford, 58-57, in the Pioneer Athletic Conference basketball championship game on Tuesday night.

After splitting a pair of regular-season games with the Rams, Methacton, leading by 34-30 at halftime, won the teams' third meeting. Casper, a 6-foot-4 junior forward, made 8 of 17 shots from the field for 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dealt three assists.

Brian Miller added 11 points, and Geoff Wittenberg chipped in with nine points and five boards.

The game included five ties as Spring-Ford got balanced scoring from Josh Fishman and Ryan Keefe with 18 points each, and Zameer McDowell with 13.

Public. Math, Civics & Sciences and Constitution are headed for a championship showdown in the league's Class A playoffs after each easily won its semifinal game.

MC&S got past visiting Paul Robeson, 79-53, as Basil Thompson scored 15 of his 17 points by halftime, and Quadir Welton contributed 13 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Savon Goodman reached the 40-point mark for the sixth time this season, collecting 41 points and 17 rebounds in Constitution's 99-49 win over visiting Lamberton. Amonie Hollomon hit seven three-pointers for 21 points.

In Class AA, Vaux ousted visiting Del-Val Charter, 77-64, as James Cole (24 points) scored 15 in a 27-18 third-quarter outburst.

Boys' Latin rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to beat host Engineering & Science, 62-59, in Class AAA. Maurice Watson, who reached 2,189 career points, poured in 19 of his 30 points after intermission.

After falling behind by 28-22 at halftime, Philadelphia Electrical regrouped and overtook visiting University City, 66-60. Hakeem Baxter (21) and Emmanuel Brown (17) led the comeback with nine points each in the third period, and Brown and Davian Joseph grabbed eight rebounds apiece.

Bartram earned a Class AAAA title berth with a 51-44 win over visiting Olney. Gerald Evariste worked inside for 20 rebounds and seven blocked shots, Gary Gordon had a 10-point, 10-assist double-double, and Bo Murray snagged 10 boards.

Fels needed a 23-13 fourth-quarter comeback, including 12 points by Nijay Kelly (18 total), to defeat visiting Washington, 66-60. T. J. Scott added 16 points for Fels, and the Eagles' William Davis netted 24.
