James' 35 lead Heat to 1st win over Bucks

The Miami Heat finally found a way to beat Milwaukee - get LeBron James to score 35 points.

After two straight losses to the Bucks, the Heat took a 114-96 road win Monday night.

James scored 16 of his points in the third quarter as the Heat outscored the Bucks 35-24 to take control.

Elsewhere: Dirk Nowitzki scored 22 points, 11 in the final 6-plus minutes, and the Mavericks held on to beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 96-92, in Dallas. . . . Jason Richardson sat out the fourth quarter but still scored 17 points as the Magic beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 102-89, in Orlando.

Knicks guard Jeremy Lin has been named the Eastern Conference player of the week after his sensational first week as an NBA starter.

Lin averaged 27.3 points and 8.3 assists while leading the Knicks to a 4-0 record. The undrafted Harvard graduate became the first player in NBA history to tally at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first four starts.

Wallace nears mark

Detroit's Ben Wallace is tied with Avery Johnson for the most games played by an undrafted player since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976 - 1,054 - and Wallace can break the mark Tuesday night when the Pistons host the San Antonio Spurs.

Wallace is a four-time NBA defensive player of the year who helped the Pistons win the 2004 championship.

The 37-year-old is in his 16th NBA season and has said he will retire this spring.

Noteworthy

Cavaliers rookie Kyrie Irving did some noncontact work during practice and the point guard may return from a concussion as early as Wednesday against Indiana. . . . Nets guard Keith Bogans had surgery on the left anke he fractured on Feb. 8 at Detroit, but is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp next season. . . . Bulls star Derrick Rose was examined by a specialist, and general manager Gar Forman said no structural damage was found in his lower back.
