College Basketball: Kentucky keeps top ranking

Kentucky received 63 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel on Monday to stay No. 1 in the Associated Press' Top 25, while the Syracuse got the others and kept the second spot in the rankings.

Missouri moved up one spot to third and was followed by Kansas, Duke, Ohio State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Baylor and Georgetown.

Syracuse 52, Louisville 51 - The second-ranked Orange (26-1, 13-1 Big East) scored the final six points of the game to edge the No. 19 Cardinals (20-6, 8-5) in Louisville, Ky.

Kansas 59, Kansas State 53 - Tyshawn Taylor had 20 points as the No. 4 Jayhawks (21-5, 11-2 Big 12) got by the Wildcats (17-8, 6-7) in Manhattan, Kan.

Honors. Temple's Ramone Moore was named the Atlantic Ten co-player of the week and also Big Five player of the week. . . . University of the Sciences' Garret Kerr (Middle Township) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week and rookie of the week. . . . Drexel's Damion Lee was named Colonial Athletic Association co-rookie of the week.

West Chester's Lance McDowell (Comm Tech) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division athlete of the week. . . . Stockton's Darnell McCargo (Collingswood) was named New Jersey Athletic Conference player of the week and the College of New Jersey's Emmanuel Matlock (Solebury School) was rookie of the week.

Women

Baylor still No. 1. Baylor remained the unanimous No. 1 choice in the AP women's poll.

Penn State made the biggest jump, climbing six places to 12th. Delaware moved up two places to tenth.

Tennessee 91, Kentucky 54 - Meighan Simmons had 25 points as the No. 13 Vols (18-7, 9-3 Southeastern Conference) routed the No. 7 Wildcats (21-4, 10-2) in Knoxville, Tenn.

Connecticut 73, Oklahoma 55 - Tiffany Hayes had 23 points, Bria Hartley added 20, and the No. 2 Huskies (24-2) won their 12th straight, routing the Sooners (16-8) in Norman, Okla.

Honors. Philadelphia University's Christine Wooding was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week. . . . St. Joseph's Ashley Primm was named Big Five player of the week.
