A 24-year-old pregnant woman was found slain overnight in the basement of a South Philadelphia home where other family members, including children, were present, officials said.

Police responded to a call to the home on the 2000 block of S. Mildred Street about 2:20 a.m. for a possible homicide with the victim bleeding from the head.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said several family members were home at the time. The woman appeared to be killed by blunt-force trauma.

Medics pronounced hear dead at the scene at 2:37 a.m.

Investigators found no sign of forced entry, police said.

Small said police did not believe the woman was the victim of a random attack.

"We're looking at this as an isolated incident," he said.

Police declined to release the victim's name until the autopsy is complete.

But neighbors said she had a preschool-age daughter and an 8-year-old son, and told neighbors she was six months pregnant with either twins or another girl.

The woman's mother declined to speak, shouting threats and obsenities at a reporter.

Multiple neighbors said the family had struggled with financial problems in recent years and that they frequently engaged in public tussles that passers-by or police broke up.

"It's such a shock to hear," said Angela Holton, 24, a friend who grew up with Tiffany. "I know they had a lot of stuff going on in the family."
