Delco schedules hearings on open-space plan

Posted: February 16, 2012

Delaware County, by far the most densely populated of Philadelphia's seven neighboring counties, will hold hearings next week on its proposed open-space plan.

The county said the plan would involve all recreation areas and an "evaluation" of the entire park system, which includes Glen Providence, Rose Tree, Smedley, Kent, and Upland Parks.

Recently acquired from the Elwyn Institute, the Mineral Hill property, well known to rock collectors for its unusual geological specimens, will be the subject of a separate master plan.

The open-space hearings are scheduled for next Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Springfield Township Building, 50 Powell Rd., Springfield, and from 7 to 9 p.m. in the County Council Meeting Room, Delaware County Government Center, 201 W. Front St., Media. - Anthony R. Wood
