Women's College Basketball: Rutgers beaten at West Virginia

Christal Caldwell scored 16 points and Asya Bussie had a double-double as West Virginia beat another ranked team this week, defeating No. 21 Rutgers, 60-50, on Wednesday night in Morgantown, W.Va.

The Mountaineers (19-6, 9-3 Big East Conference) beat No. 2 Notre Dame, 65-63, on Sunday.

Bussie finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Rutgers (17-7, 6-6) led by 48-47 with 4 minutes, 41 seconds left but West Virginia closed on a 12-3 run to seal the win.

Temple 75, George Washington 54 - Fueled by 64 percent shooting, the Owls (17-8, 10-1 A-10) put up a 45-point second half in the Liacouras Center and cruised to their 10th straight win. Five Owls scored in double figures for the second straight game, led by Kristen McCarthy with a game-high 21 points.

Tara Booker (Absegami) and Tiana Myers scored 15 points apiece to lead George Washington (11-14, 4-7).

St. Joseph's 64, Rhode Island 53 - Kelly Cavallo scored 14 points and Michelle Baker added 12 as the Hawks (17-8, 7-4 A-10) topped the visiting Rams (1-25, 0-11).

Dayton 58, La Salle 49 - Andrea Hoover scored 22 points and Justine Raterman added 20 as the Flyers (17-6, 9-2 A-10) beat the Explorers (12-14, 6-5) in the Tom Gola Arena. Brittany Wilson led La Salle with 15 points.

West Chester 85, Shippensburg 67 - Alexandra Lennon (Shipley) scored 20 points and the Rams (17-6, 13-6 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) won at Shippensburg (12-11, 9-10).

Kutztown 72, Cheyney 59 - Shanavia Thomas had 13 points and Aerie DeJesus added 12 but the Wolves (0-20, 0-16 PSAC) fell to the visiting Bears (7-15, 5-11), 72-59. Ashley Wood (Spring-Ford) led Kutztown with 21 points.

Goldey-Beacom 66, Chestnut Hill 55 - Olivia Gorczynski scored 22 points, but the Griffins (6-18, 5-12 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) fell to the Lightning (17-7, 12-5) in Wilmington.
