S. Jersey Girls: Owens jump-starts Willingboro's win

Micahya Owens' incendiary start gave third-ranked Willingboro the jolt it needed to defeat No. 7 Holy Cross, 56-44, on Friday in a South Jersey Invitational basketball semifinal at Kingsway.

Owens made three three-point baskets while scoring 11 of her game-high 22 points in the opening quarter. Kara Cezar came on to add 16 points for the Chimeras, who closed out the win with an 18-10 run. Sisters Aliyah and Ashli Jeune combined to score 26 for the Lancers.

In a showcase game at Kingsway, Nicole Carney, Dominique Hassinger, and Tori Levari combined to score 40 as Delsea drubbed Cinnaminson, 63-40.

Cape-Atlantic. Summer Crilley scored 20 points, grabbed a dozen rebounds and dealt six assists to spark third-seeded Holy Spirit over No. 6 seed Atlantic City, 54-48, in a playoff quarterfinal.

In the other quarterfinal, Olivia Schwartz had a team-high 12 points and Kristina Startare filled the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists, as fourth-seeded Middle Township edged No. 5 seed Cedar Creek, 52-44.

In Wednesday's semifinal doubleheader at St. Augustine, second-seeded Ocean City will face Holy Spirit and Middle Township will take on top-seeded Sacred Heart.

Olympic. Taylor Holmes scored 10 of her 11 points in a 21-9 second-quarter blitz, and sixth-ranked Lenape never looked back in trouncing host Triton, 62-48. Alexis Sears and Nicole Donnelly had 12 points each for the Indians.
