College Basketball: Michigan wins duel with Ohio St.

Jordan Morgan had 11 points and 11 rebounds, playing all-American forward Jared Sullinger to a virtual stalemate as No. 17 Michigan beat No. 6 Ohio State, 56-51, on Saturday night to remain unbeaten at home.

Trey Burke scored 17 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 13 for the Wolverines (20-7, 10-4 Big Ten), who improved to 15-0 at the Crisler Center by snapping a six-game losing streak to their longtime rivals.

Deshaun Thomas had 25 points and 14 rebounds for Ohio State (22-5, 10-4). Sullinger scored 14 points on 6-for-14 shooting.

Kansas State 57, Baylor 56 - Angel Rodriguez had 15 points and six assists and the Wildcats (18-8, 7-7 Big 12) made up for his potentially costly turnover in the final seconds and held on to beat the No. 9 Bears (22-5, 9-5) in Waco, Texas.

New Mexico 65, UNLV 45 - Drew Gordon scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead the host Lobos (22-4, 6-4 Mountain West) to their seventh straight victory, beating the No. 11 Rebels (22-6, 6-4).

Air Force 58, San Diego State 56 - Michael Lyons scored 27 points and the host Falcons (13-11, 3-7 Mountain West) upset the No. 13 Aztecs (20-6, 6-4) when Xavier Thames' off-balance three-pointer fell short at the buzzer.

 

Big East

Marquette 79, Connecticut 64 - Jae Crowder had 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead the No. 12 Golden Eagles to a road victory over the Huskies and keep Marquette in position for a double bye in next month's Big East tournament.

Darius Johnson-Odom added 24 points for Marquette (22-5, 11-3 Big East), which won for the 10th time 11 games.

Jeremy Lamb had 19 points to lead Connecticut (16-10, 6-8), which fell to 2-3 in the five games coach Jim Calhoun has missed with back problems.

Georgetown 63, Providence 53 - Hollis Thompson and Jason Clark scored 13 points each and the No. 10 Hoyas shut down Friars shooters for the second time this season.

Georgetown (20-5, 10-4 Big East) held host Providence (13-15, 2-13) without a basket for a 14-minute stretch in the first half.

Cincinnati 62, Seton Hall 57 - Dion Dixon scored 20 points and Cashmere Wright added 13 for the host Bearcats, who never trailed the Pirates (18-9, 7-8 Big East).

Cincinnati (19-8, 9-5) has won two straight and three out of four going into a conference matchup Thursday with No. 19 Louisville in Cincinnati.
