Police said they believed it was the vehicle that killed Eric Beck, 36, of Wild Rose Lane, as he walked home early Sunday morning from a party at a Bristol Township bar.
Beck was struck by the car about 12:30 a.m. on New Falls Road near Holly Drive, according to police. The driver sped away from the scene.
As investigators worked to learn the identity of the driver, the issue of who owned the vehicle was complicated by a recent sale, Bristol Police Lt. Gaetano C. Sava Jr. said Monday.
"We have information that it may have recently changed hands prior to the crash," Sava wrote in an e-mail.
As the Audi sped off, a second car struck Beck, but that driver stopped and was cooperating with investigators, police said Sunday.
Beck died after speaking to his mother, Michelle, who arrived on the scene because he had called her for a ride.
He asked her to hold his hand just before he died, she told reporters. She was going to pick him up at a nearby Walgreens parking lot.
Beck had been at a birthday bash with his brother and friends at Hurricane Jack's Restaurant & Bar on New Falls Road in Bristol Township.
His mother called on the driver to surrender to police.
