21-year-old slain in West Philly

A 21-year-old West Philadelphia man died Wednesday night of a gunshot wound.

At 8:49 p.m., police got a report of a shooting in the 6300 block of Callowhill Street, and found Stephan Hamilton, wounded in the right armpit.

He was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Hamilton lived in the 300 block of N. 64th St., a couple of blocks from where he was found.

As of this morning, police knew of no motive and had no suspects.

The homicide was the city's 51st this year, down from 56 at the same point last year.
