Snider attending D.C. hockey caucus

Posted: February 24, 2012

Ed Snider, chairman of Comcast-Spectacor, will join NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and other hockey executives at the Congressional Hockey Caucus briefing in Washington on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Hosted by Rep. Patrick Meehan (R., Pa.), the caucus will focus on the impact community-based hockey programs, such as the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, have on the development of life skills, character, and academic success.

In addition to Snider and Bettman, Ted Leonsis, chairman and majority owner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the NHL's Washington Capitals; Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA Hockey; and Johnny C. Taylor Jr., CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, will speak at the caucus.

Snider created his youth hockey foundation in 2005 to introduce hockey and skating to inner-city children. The program has more than 3,000 participants and provides equipment, ice time, and experienced coaching at no cost.
