American Girl Fashion Show to benefit the Junior League

The Walnut Street Theatre will present its touring production of "Go Green" on Sunday at Gutman Early Learning Center in Melrose Park.

The Junior League of Philadelphia's American Girl Fashion Show on Saturday at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center will feature fashion for young ladies.

Local children will model fashions to runway commentary and music. Audience members can see attire ranging from historical daywear to special-occasion outfits, and they can also purchase clothes at the show. Girls will be able to bring their dolls to a salon to get their hair styled. There will be lunch, raffles, and door prizes.

Proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Philadelphia's community programs. The organization promotes voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the leadership of trained volunteers. The show, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., is appropriate for children 6 and younger.

'Go Green' on tour

Go Green, the Walnut Street Theatre's touring production, will be presented Sunday at the Gutman Early Learning Center in Melrose Park.

In the show, fifth grader Ellen Mackleby is concerned about the environment and wonders how she can change the world. Can she persuade family and friends to be concerned about air pollution, climate change, litter, and other things affecting the Earth? Aliens from the planet Viridis help Ellen realize that one person can make a change.

Go Green, 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Gutman Early Learning Center, 7500 West Ave., Melrose Park. Admission is free. Information: 215-635-5570.

Musical tour for children

A celebration of diversity comes to World Cafe Live at the Queen with Bill and Tammy's Children's World Music Express.

Musicians Bill Koutsouros and Tammy Keorkunian, graduates of Philadelphia area colleges, will share with kids the cultures of the world through music and movement. Children can experience a musical trip to Africa, Greece, India, South America, the Middle East, and Asia as the duo uses traditional and cultural music along with sounds, beats, and instruments to keep the kids entertained.

Bill and Tammy's Children's World Music Express, 11:30 a.m. Saturday at World Cafe Live at the Queen, 500 N. Market St., Wilmington. Doors open at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10, $7 for ages 1 to 12, and free for infants 23 months and younger.
