Rhule leaves Temple for N.Y. Giants' staff

Posted: March 11, 2012

Matt Rhule, who was recently promoted to co-offensive coordinator by Temple football coach Steve Addazio, is leaving to become the assistant offensive line coach for the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, the Daily News has learned.

The Giants have not yet announced the move.

Rhule has been on the Owls' staff for the last six seasons, the first five under Al Golden (who's now at Miami). He was the OC and quarterbacks coach from 2008 to '10. Last season, as one of two holdovers who remained from Golden's regime, he coached the tight ends and was also the recruiting coordinator.

When offensive coordinator Scot Loefler left after one season to take the same position at Auburn, Addazio named Rhule the co-OC along with Ryan Day, who returned to Temple from Boston College. Rhule was also going to coach the tight ends.

Rhule wife's, Julie, is a registered dietician who works for Temple's dining services.

Temple begins spring practice Monday.
