Penn State football adds another 4-star recruit

Penn State's recruiting class of 2013 continues to grow.

Offensive lineman Brendan Mahon gave his verbal commitment to coach Bill O'Brien on Saturday, becoming the fifth player in the class. All are ranked as four-star players by Rivals.com.

Mahon, 6-5, 302, from Randolph, N.J., is considered a four-star prospect and is ranked as the 190th player overall by Rivals.

"Penn State was always a school I was real interested in," Mahon told Rivals.com, "and after spending some time with [Penn State sophomore lineman] Angelo Mangiro, he was just telling me that I have to do what's good for me, and I just think Penn State is the best choice."

He also had been seriously considering Rutgers.

Mahon said he has become close friends on the recruiting trial with New Jersey defensive end Garrett Sickels, another early Penn State commitment.

With Mahon and Sickels, Penn State also has received commitments from tight end Adam Breneman, quarterback Christian Hackenberg and cornerback Ross Douglas.
