UFC plans summer stop in AC

Posted: March 20, 2012

THE UFC IS returning to its roots this summer when UFC on FX 4 makes a stop in Atlantic City on June 22.

It will mark the seventh time UFC has graced the boardwalk and the first since UFC 53 in 2005.

The main event - to take place at the new Revel Casino - features lightweights Clay Guida and Gray Maynard. Both fighters are looking to avenge losses in previous bouts, Maynard (8-1-1 UFC; 10-1-1 MMA) losing to former lightweight champion and Toms River native Frankie Edgar at UFC 136 last October.

To truly convey the six degrees of separation in this one, Guida's (9-6 UFC; 29-12 MMA) last fight was a loss to current lightweight champ Benson Henderson in UFC's first-ever foray onto network TV with UFC on Fox 1.

The full card has yet to be released and a UFC source said organizers are still "weeks away" from announcing the complete slate. It will be the first MMA event at the Revel Casino, scheduled to open April 2.
