The Black History and Culture Showcase. The showcase will be presented from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Convention Center, 12th and Arch Streets. It was started in 2004 by Everett Staten as a way to promote a greater awareness and appreciation of African American history. New this year is the recognition of artistic talent in fine arts, literature, theater, music, and film. The weekend centers on "Real People, Real Artifacts, and Real Stories."
