Soul back on field sooner after record-setting win

Posted: April 09, 2012

BECAUSE OF the Flyers-Penguins playoff series, the Soul's next game has been moved up a day to Saturday. Kickoff is 6:05 p.m. The Flyers and Penguins will play Game 3 on Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center.

Customers holding tickets for the rematch of ArenaBowl XXII on April 15 will be able to use them on April 14. If ticketholders cannot make the rescheduled date, tickets will be valid for any remaining Soul home game, but must be exchanged at the box office. Ticket exchanges can be made at the Wells Fargo Center box office anytime during business hours.

The Soul scored a team-record 92 points in a win over the weekend, so getting back on the field a day sooner probably isn't bad news. It's the second time in 3 weeks the Soul (3-1) set the franchise record for points in a game.

Dan Raudabaugh threw six touchdown passes and Joe Goosby returned two interceptions for scores as the visiting Soul dismantled Georgia, 92-42. The 50-point margin is the largest in team history.

Some other Soul numbers from Saturday's romp:

* Fullback Derrick Ross ran for three touchdowns and set a team record with 74 rushing yards.

* Tiger Jones had 10 catches for 180 yards and three scores.

* The Soul outscored Georgia, 35-21, in the second quarter.

* Georgia had a nearly 3-minute edge in time of possession, which sort of tells you all you need to know about the pinball nature of arena football.

* Raudabaugh had more touchdown passes (six) than incompletions (four).

* Emery Sammons, filling in for the injured Donovan Morgan, caught the game's first touchdown. He had six catches for 85 yards and a pair of TDs.
