Thurs. Pa. girls' roundup: Freshman sparks Conwell-Egan

Conwell-Egan freshman Maddi Michaels came through with her first career game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh, providing a dramatic end to the Eagles' 7-6 Catholic League softball win over visiting Cardinal O'Hara on Thursday.

O'Hara's Molly Rafferty tied the game in the sixth inning with a three-run homer, but Rebecca Maziarz scored from third base on Michaels' single with no outs in the seventh for the win.

Conwell-Egan's Gina Massaro earned the pitching win with nine strikeouts and also drove in three runs.

Also in the Catholic League, Jules Marmol belted bases-empty home runs in the third and fifth innings for Little Flower's 11-3 success against visiting Neumann-Goretti.

Claire Alminde (four runs) and winning pitcher Erica Ragazzone (four RBIs) each went 3 for 4 at the plate for St. Hubert, which claimed an 11-1 win over visiting Lansdale Catholic.

Monica Clark and Kerri Hunt each had a single, double and a run batted in for Archbishop Carroll en route to a 6-2 victory over visiting Archbishop Wood.

Central. Haverford High's Colleen Walsh lost her no-hit bid in the fifth inning and settled for a 4-0 one-hitter at Ridley. Maura Cesanek and Mary Cotton rapped RBI singles in the fourth inning.

Upper Darby's Savannah Nierintz pitched a five-inning no-hitter and Olivia Chase homered in her first two at-bats as the Royals won, 22-0, at Lower Merion.

Unbeaten Springfield (Delco) improved to 7-0 with a 13-3 win at Penncrest in which Lauren Scarpato hit a grand slam.

Catholic Academies. Nazareth Academy (7-0) tuned up for Saturday's nonleague battle with Neshaminy by beating host Gwynedd-Mercy, 12-2. Molly Scullion drove in three runs, including a bases-empty homer, and Brianna Perri and Taylor Lichtenhahn shared the Pandas' pitching chores.

Villa Joseph Marie fashioned a three-run eighth inning on Julianna Tantum's three-run homer to beat host Merion Mercy, 6-3.

St. Basil pitcher Nichole Eberhard scattered three hits, and Lauren Brogan and Melissa Mulvey had two hits apiece amid a 4-2 win at Villa Maria.

Ches-Mont. Amanda Lewis launched a three-run homer to center field and Ashley Gindle drove in two runs in Sun Valley's 13-2 win over visiting Oxford.

Suburban One. Natalie Babik singled in the tying run and Paige DeCew's ground ball plated the winning run for Pennridge, which won, 2-1, at Central Bucks East.

Stephanie Dinolfi's two hits and Gina Pellechio's two runs scored ignited Norristown's 6-2 win at Upper Moreland.

Public. Central's 10-0 win over visiting Prep Charter was a five-inning one-hitter by Sarah Rosenberg with 10 strikeouts. Stephanie Cattan drove in two runs.

Molly Zborowski's two-run double aided Lincoln's eight-run seventh inning and the Railsplitters held on to beat host Northeast, 13-11.

Mariana Bracetti pitcher Tatiana Concepcion helped herself with a grand slam and a three-run homer, sparking the Bulldogs' 23-10 win over visiting Roxborough.

Del-Val. Lauren Munro's home run, and Lindsy Devecchio's three hits, two runs scored and three stolen bases boosted Interboro past host Academy Park, 14-2.

Bicentennial. Keli Krause highlighted Christopher Dock's 16-0 win over visiting New Hope-Solebury with a four-inning no-hitter.


Delco Christian overcame a three-goal halftime deficit and beat visiting Lower Moreland, 13-11, in the Bicentennial League. Amy Eichlind scored all of her four goals in the second-half comeback.

Catholic Academies. Eileen Dombrowski posted seven goals and three assists, and Kerri Shallow added five goals and two assists for Sacred Heart in a 21-11 win over visiting St. Basil.

Pioneer Athletic. Maddie Ward scored four goals and goalie Cassidy Novotny made eight saves as Spring-Ford defeated host Upper Perkiomen, 16-5.

Central. Katrina Geiger accounted for most of Haverford High's offense in an 18-11 win at Lower Merion by pouring in 10 goals.

Public. Lorna Caesar scored two goals and assisted on another as Prep Charter subdued host Mastbaum, 5-1.
