SabreCats at Soul

Posted: April 14, 2012

Saturday at 6:05 p.m., Wells Fargo Center

 TV: None. Radio: ESPN-AM (950)

Soul (3-1) update: They are coming off a franchise-record explosion in a 92-42 win at Georgia. The outing netted quarterback Dan Raudabuagh (six TD passes) and linebacker Joe Goosby (two interceptions returned for TDs) the Arena Football League's offensive and defensive player of the week honors. . . . The Soul share the East Division lead with Cleveland, which won in Philadelphia two weeks ago. . . . The Soul lead the AFL in points per game at 75.3. San Jose is second at 68.8. . . . Figure on a 3-hour game.

SaberCats (3-1) update: AFL Hall of Famer Darren Arbet is in his 12th season as head coach and his 16th with San Jose. He became part of the ownernship group last year. . . . This will be San Jose's only game in the Eastern time zone. . . . The SaberCats are tied with Arizona atop the West Division.

Keep in mind: This game was switched from Sunday because of the Flyers playoff game. Fans can use the Sunday ticket for admittance. Those unable to attend may exchange tickets for another home game this season.

Series history: San Jose has won three of the five meetings, but the Soul won the biggest, winning the 2008 Arena Bowl in New Orleans.

Quite a mark: Mark Greib has been the San Jose quarterback every time the SaberCats have faced the Soul, dating back to 2004. In a league that doesn't pay particularly well and has frequent player turnover, this is remarkable.

Poll position: Philadelphia is third in the weekly coaches' poll, a spot ahead of San Jose. Chicago (4-0), the league's only undefeated team, is first. Arizona is No. 2.

Up next: The Soul host Tampa Bay on Friday. It's an NFL Network game, so the start time is 8 p.m.
