Spotlight: Cherokee senior Jordan Glover

Jordan Glover likes having room to roam.

That's why he likes center field.

"There's a lot of space out there," said Glover, a senior centerfielder for Cherokee. "If a ball's hit to your right side, you have first priority. If a ball's hit to your left side, you have first priority. There's a lot of action."

Glover is a top defender as well as a top hitter. He covers a lot of ground in the outfield and also bats cleanup for the Chiefs.

Glover batted .385 as a junior and was a member of the Burlington County team in the Carpenter Cup. He's off to a good start this season, going 5 for 13 (.385) and leading the Chiefs in hits, doubles (two), and RBIs (five).

Glover said Cherokee (2-2) is a senior-laden team with high expectations.

"We're all very excited," Glover said. "We have so many seniors, and this is our last year. We think we have the potential to go all the way to the state championship."

Glover moved to Marlton from Willingboro as a seventh grader. Because he started school early, he is one of South Jersey's youngest seniors, having turned 17 in December.

"It hasn't really hit me yet that this is my last year at Cherokee," said Glover, who is undecided about college but wants to continue to play baseball. "We all feel the same way. We all want to make the most of this season."
