Rosters announced for Taliaferro game

Posted: April 20, 2012

Quarterbacks Calvin Lowe of South Jersey Group 3 champion Timber Creek and Shaq Lee of South Jersey Group 4 runner-up Millville will lead their teams at the annual Adam Taliaferro Blue-White football game, set for 7 p.m. June 28 at Rowan University.

Lowe and Haddon Heights' Nick Lundholm will serve as quarterbacks of the White team. Lee and Cinnaminson's Dom Elly will quarterback the Blue team.

Lindenwold's Derryk Sellers will be head coach of the White. Maple Shade's Tony Nicolino will be head coach of the Blue.

The annual game, which drew 4,500 spectators in 2011, is a fund-raiser for the Adam Taliaferro Foundation, which provides financial assistance and emotional support to victims of spinal cord injuries and their families.

Taliaferro, the former Eastern High School star, was paralyzed while making a tackle for Penn State as a freshman in 2000. He has made a remarkable recovery and is an attorney for a South Jersey firm.

The Adam Taliaferro Foundation, created in 2001, has raised nearly $1 million. The foundation also focuses on education to help prevent injuries, and provides annual scholarships to high school students.
