SOFTBALL: In Washington, La Salle dropped two games to George Washington, 5-1 and 4-1.
The Explorers' Kati Cooper went 3 for 5 and Alicia Aughton added a 3 for 7 on the day. Tristan Musho (Cardinal O'Hara) went 3 for 6 with a home run.
Gloucester County College (26-6) was ranked No. 1 in the nation by the National Junior College Athletic Association for the second straight week.
HONORS: Philadelphia University received the CACC Community Engagement Award for its "Athletics Shadowing Day," which took place Nov. 14 and March 7 and involved 30 student-athletes, five coaches, and five administrators from the Rams' athletic department.
The program featured a partnership between Philadelphia University athletics and the Northeast Philadelphia's New Foundation Charter School. Forty middle-school students from NFCS participated in the program with various members of the Rams' athletic department.
Coaches and administrators also took part and provided the students with insight into the inner workings of the department as well as offering an understanding of how important education is in regards to each of their futures as students, athletes and professionals.
NFCS students returned to the campus March 7 to present their service project recommendations. One submission involved allowing middle school basketball teams to play at halftime of the Rams' home basketball games.
