Rap stars Rick Ross, Juelz Santana and Wale came out to help North Philly hip-hop sensation Meek Mill celebrate his 25th birthday Sunday. First the guys were part of a boat party on the Delaware and later that night hit up Union Transfer (10th & Spring Garden) for a private party.

“Vagina Monologues” creator Eve Ensler will be honored Thursday at Women’s Way’s 35th annual Powerful Voice Awards at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Ensler, a Tony award-winning playwright, performer and activist, receives Women’s Way’s Lucretia Mott Award.

In from Perth, Australia, pedal-steel guitarist Lucky Oceans, co-founder of Asleep at the Wheel, sits in Thursday night at McShea’s Pub (242 Haverford) in Narberth during a free show about 9:30 by Texas-swing band Beats Walkin’. Oceans, born Reuben Gosfield in Philadelphia in 1951, is in the area visiting relatives. Oceans’ parents owned Chestnut Hill’s old Under the Blue Moon restaurant, which closed in 1997. n
