Chart-topping rapper Pitbull signs bottles of Voli Light vodka (for those who purchase it) from 5 to 7 Thursday night at the PA Wine & Spirits Store (180 W. Girard).
Our condolences to Kijafa Frink and family on the loss of her mother, Joyce Louise Moore. Moore, a retired teacher known to friends and family as “Suga Mama,” died May 11. Frink, co-owner of PNK Elephant (504 South St.) boutique, and Eagles quarterback Michael Vick are to marry June 30 in Miami Beach.
‘Top Chef’ showdown
Local “Top Chef” favorite Jennifer Carroll battles fellow “Top Chef” alum Eli Kirshstein in three cook-offs May 30 in LOVE Park. Bravo and Comcast are sponsoring the 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. interactive competitions at which guests can win prizes by participating in something called a “Cornhole Toss” (we won’t go there), Tip the Scale (in which people line up objects by guessing their weight) and a “Top Chef” horseshoe toss.
Fitzpatrick yes, Fattah no
Not sure what U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah is afraid of, but he is the only candidate invited to perform at the 22nd annual Stu Bykofsky’s Candidates Comedy Night who declined to participate or even send a surrogate in his place.
The Aug. 22 event will be at Finnigan’s Wake (3rd & Spring Garden) and it turns out will include 8th Congressional District incumbent Mike Fitzpatrick. Bykofsky’s column last week indicated Fitzpatrick would not perform.
Participants include those running for U.S. Senate, Pennsylvania attorney general and 11 of 12 invited congressional candidates. Daily News columnist Jenice Armstrong is Byko’s co-host. The show, a summer political “classic,” is a fundraiser for Variety, the Children’s Charity. Some $440,000 has been raised to date with plenty more expected to come later this year, no thanks to Fattah, of course.
Gracie in astronaut’s orbit
South Philly-born rocker Charlie Gracie performs Wednesday night at original NASA-7 astronaut Scott Carpenter’s 50th anniversary party of his orbiting the Earth. The show takes place at the Players Club at Gramercy Park. Carpenter hired Gracie after seeing him perform in Vail, Colo., in March. n
