Central tops in softball

Sarah Rosenburg gave up just one hit and no earned runs as she helped Central coast to a 7-1 win over Philadelphia Academy Charter in the Public League softball final at LaSalle University.

Rosenburg struck out 12 and walked none for the complete-game win. Gina Guadalupe added a pair of hits and two runs scored and senior Stephanie Cattan went 1 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Volleyball

Washington overcame a power outage to capture its first back-to-back boys volleyball Public League title as the Eagles dropped Masterman, 3-0. Washington capped off a perfect (13-0) season in the Public League.

The match was scheduled to be played at Community College of Philadelphia before it was moved to nearby Masterman after the outage.

The Eagles won the matches 25-19, 25-11 and 25-16. Danil Pavlov led the way with 24 service points and 20 kills. Subin Shaji added 28 assists and Danny Parskevov recorded 10 kills. Washington finished 13-0 in the league.

Both teams qualify for next week's state tournament.
