Cops: Girl poisoned by her killer mom is stable

A 4-YEAR-OLD GIRL whom police said was poisoned by her suicidal mother who killed two of her other children was listed in stable condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children Friday afternoon, police said.

Meanwhile, Stacey Smalls, the girl's 41-year-old mother, was awaiting arraignment on two counts of murder after she allegedly suffocated one of her 18-month-old twins and drowned the other Thursday in her home on Ditman Street near Levick in Tacony.

Police Friday night were unsure of what Smalls used in the attempt to poison her daughter.

Cops said she attempted suicide by slitting her wrists, but her husband returned home in enough time to call the police on her after he saw the dead bodies of his twins, named Adam and Eve, lying in one of the bedrooms.

Beside both tiny bodies was a note, the contents of which read "This is why I killed your kids" and which outlined Smalls' fury over an alleged affair that her husband was having with one of his wife's relatives, sources said.

Smalls' photo was not released Friday, and charging information was not immediately available.
