Kane Price's double aided Council Rock South's win over Upper Dublin at Temple's Ambler campus, and C.B. South needed nine innings to squeeze past Hatboro-Horsham at Glen Mills.
Junior catcher Jake Kennedy became the first Coatesville player to pile up seven RBIs in a game, hitting three home runs in a 14-7, Class AAAA consolation victory at Downingtown West.
Kennedy was 4 for 4, Emmett Hunt went 3 for 5, and Brian Brown struck out nine in six innings.
Central Bucks West survived a 9-8, nine-inning consolation thriller at Methacton. Jake Poeski drove in three runs with four hits, and catcher Eugene Alpin lined a game-winning three-run double in the top of the ninth.
West escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third when leftfielder Mike Banford caught a fly ball and threw out a runner at the plate.
Volleyball
Pennridge (22-0) survived a five-set marathon and advanced to Friday's pool play in the PIAA state Class AAA tournament with a 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-8 victory over Hempfield in the first round at William Tennent.
Souderton also moved to pool play with a 25-6, 25-13, 25-4 win over Northeast at Tennent.
Washington got 13 kills by Danil Pavlov and 11 kills from Dan Paraskevov, but the Eagles' season ended with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-27, 25-15 loss to Parkland at the Community College of Philadelphia.
Class AA. District 12's entries in the state tournament exited with losses as Masterman dropped a 25-14, 25-10, 25-10 verdict to Dover at CCP, and Engineering & Science bowed to Holy Redeemer, 25-12, 25-12, 25-10, at Dallas.
