A 90-year-old woman was injured Tuesday during an attempted purse snatching at a Main Line supermarket, police said.
She was walking into the Superfresh in Gladwyne at 12:45 p.m. when a white female in her 20s grabbed the elder woman’s pocketbook and tried to wrench it from her grasp, said Lower Merion Superintendent of Police Michael McGrath.
The victim refused to let go of her purse and suffered lacerations of the arm from the purse’s strap, McGrath said. The younger woman was accompanied by a white male during the attempted robbery. The pair fled in a silver or gray Honda or Toyota subcompact vehicle in the direction of Righters Mill Road in Lower Merion. They are described as being in their 20s and wearing shorts. — Bonnie L.
