Suspect in shooting of man, 80, escapes from Philadelphia police

Police are looking for an 18-year-old man who escaped after he was arrested in the shooting of an 80-year-old man during a burglary May 17 in Southwest Philadelphia.

Sean Johnson escaped from the Southwest Detectives Division at 55th and Pine Streets on Saturday, police said Wednesday. They did not say how he got away.

Johnson, of the 2100 block of South 67th Street, had been arrested and charged with attempted murder in the shooting of an 80-year-old man during a burglary on the 6600 block of Yocum Street, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, remains in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, police said.
