Thurs. S.J. boys' and girls' roundup: Maple Shade wraps up division

Maple Shade's softball team clinched its fourth straight Burlington County League Freedom Division championship Thursday, with Brittany Granahan starring in a 5-1 win at Riverside.

Granahan struck out six and scattered four hits and a walk in going the distance. The junior also batted 2 for 2, stole two bases, and drove in two runs.

The Wildcats will try to complete a 14-0 run in division play when they visit Burlington City on Friday.

Cape-Atlantic. Raelynn Genovese and Morgan Neilson combined for four hits and four runs to help host Hammonton top rival St. Joseph, 7-6.

A bases-loaded double by Katie Boudreaux ignited a seven-run sixth inning that lifted host Mainland over Cedar Creek, 7-5.

Baseball

Doug Schwartz roped a run-scoring double in the first inning and pitched an economical two-hit shutout, striking out two and walking one, in Middle Township's 3-0 win over visiting St. Joseph in the Cape-Atlantic League.

Zack Vogelei added a single, a triple, and two runs scored for the Panthers.

Burlington County. Jordan Campbell batted 3 for 4, knocked in two runs and scored once, and Tanner Clifford went 2 for 4 with two RBIs as Riverside doubled up host Maple Shade, 6-3.

Girls' Lacrosse

Cape-Atlantic League champion Ocean City closed its season with an 18-5 romp at Lower Cape May.

Kelly Hanna, Tess Solazzo, and Casey Hanna each had a hat trick for the Red Raiders.
