On Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., traffic will be detoured away from Kelly Drive because of the Independence Dragon Boat Regatta. Signs will be posted, and delays should be minimal, according to police.
On Sunday, the TD Bank Championship Bike Race will take over a slew of streets from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to police, the following roads will be closed:
-- The entire length of Kelly Drive (no trolleys, no parking).
-- Ben Franklin Parkway from 18th Street to Eakins Oval (cross traffic permitted at 20th, 21st, 22d Streets).
-- Ridge Avenue-School House Lane to Hermit Lane.
-- Main Street-Ridge Avenue. to Green Lane.
-- Levering-Main Street to Tower Street.
-- Cresson-Levering to Levering.
-- Lyceum-Tower to Pechin.
-- Pechin St-Lyceum Street to Roxborough Avenue.
-- Roxborough-Pechin Street to Manyunk Avenue.
-- Manyunk-Roxborough Avenue to Ridge Avenue.
Expect detours and restricted access on nearby roads as well, including routes in and out of Fairmount Park. The only open route to the Art Museum will be through the Spring Garden Tunnel. No vehicles, not even trolleys, will have access to the Lemon Hill, Mount Pleasant or Ormiston mansions.
SEPTA will detour the following bus routes starting at 6 a.m.: 7, 9, 27, 32, 33, 35, 38, 43, 48, 61, 65, 124/125, K and R. Buses will resume "as soon as possible after the race," according to SEPTA. For updates, go to SEPTA’s website.
Parking will also be restricted, so spectators are advised to use public transit.
