Center City's Good Dog Bar (224 S. 15th St., 215-985-9600, gooddogbar.com) has lots of fans in the restaurant biz. Now owners Dave Garry and Heather Gleason, with partner Tom Darby, are returning the love with The Industry (1401-1403 E. Moyamensing Ave., 215-271-9500), a neighborhood restaurant and bar serving seasonal American dishes from Chef Pat Szoke.

Szoke has worked at The Farm and Fisherman, Vetri and Buddakan. It's open to all, of course, but there will be daily discounts for industry workers (with valid proof) and the hours — food till 1 a.m., brunch till 4 p.m. — were set with an eye toward industry folks' odd shifts.

Tisn't the season yet, but starting Tuesday you can grab tickets for the holiday show "The Cake Boss!" Buddy Valastro is doing Nov. 27 at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall (Broad and Spruce streets, 215-893-1999 or online at kimmelcenter.org).

He's promising a live cooking show "full of holiday spirit and jingle bell rock." Tickets are $35.75-$85.

Get your kicks during Philly Beer Week with the Cisco Brewery Beer dinner, 6:30 Thursday night, at Route 6 (600 N. Broad St., 215-391-4600, route6restaurant.com), where East Coast seafood and beer from the Nantucket-based brewery make a timely pairing.

Four courses for $65 a person, or sip and sample as you prefer.

Truffle off to Dettera (129 E. Butler Ave., Ambler, 215-643-0111, www.dettera.com), where Thursday night Chef Jeffrey Power debuts his Summer Truffle Menu, spotlighting the less expensive, but still singularly-flavored summer version of the fungi in dishes ranging from Roast Magret Duck Breast with Truffled Spaetzle and a chocolate semifreddo with truffle sprinkles. The menu will be available Thursdays through Saturdays.

Serve a person bouillabaisse and they'll eat once, show them how to make bouillabaisse and, well, you get the idea.

BYOB Spring Mill Cafe (164 Barren Hill Road, Conshohocken, 610-828-2550) will host a dinner demonstration on the hearty fish stew at 7 p.m. June 20.

Also on the menu, green salad with goat cheese, and chocolate mousse. $60. n
