Tisn't the season yet, but starting Tuesday you can grab tickets for the holiday show "The Cake Boss!" Buddy Valastro is doing Nov. 27 at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall (Broad and Spruce streets, 215-893-1999 or online at kimmelcenter.org).
He's promising a live cooking show "full of holiday spirit and jingle bell rock." Tickets are $35.75-$85.
Get your kicks during Philly Beer Week with the Cisco Brewery Beer dinner, 6:30 Thursday night, at Route 6 (600 N. Broad St., 215-391-4600, route6restaurant.com), where East Coast seafood and beer from the Nantucket-based brewery make a timely pairing.
Four courses for $65 a person, or sip and sample as you prefer.
Truffle off to Dettera (129 E. Butler Ave., Ambler, 215-643-0111, www.dettera.com), where Thursday night Chef Jeffrey Power debuts his Summer Truffle Menu, spotlighting the less expensive, but still singularly-flavored summer version of the fungi in dishes ranging from Roast Magret Duck Breast with Truffled Spaetzle and a chocolate semifreddo with truffle sprinkles. The menu will be available Thursdays through Saturdays.
Serve a person bouillabaisse and they'll eat once, show them how to make bouillabaisse and, well, you get the idea.
BYOB Spring Mill Cafe (164 Barren Hill Road, Conshohocken, 610-828-2550) will host a dinner demonstration on the hearty fish stew at 7 p.m. June 20.
Also on the menu, green salad with goat cheese, and chocolate mousse. $60. n
