Roman Catholic wideout commits to Penn State

Just this once, William Fuller served as the catch, and the school that made it was ... Penn State.

According to Blue White Illustrated and his own Twitter messages, the star wideout from Roman Catholic High committed Tuesday night to the Nittany Lions.

Fuller tweeted, "Verbally committed to Penn State." Along with, "Feels great to be apart of this."

BWI quoted Fuller as saying: "I just called coach [Bill] O’Brien to tell him the news. He was just telling me that he’s real excited, that after watching me perform, I’m definitely one of the guys he really wanted. I’ll be honest, this is great. I’m just real excited right now."

Fuller had also been scheduled to visit South Carolina, Tennesse and North Carolina State.

Fuller last season made 45 catches for 736 yards and 10 touchdowns, upping his career numbers to 78/1,450/19. His 2011 highlight was a 276-yard effort vs. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, which broke a city record (252) that had stood since 1969.

In an interview Sunday, Fuller told BWI he’d hoped to receive an offer from Penn State during a Junior Day visit last February. That didn’t happen, but the school’s view changed after he added 8 pounds and performed well Saturday during an on-campus camp.

"I’m done with [this]," Fuller was quoted as saying. "Recruiting is over for me. Penn State is the school I wanted."
