OUT AND ABOUT
Tennis great Billie Jean King lunched Wednesday at Fleming's Steakhouse in Radnor and Tuesday at Smith & Wollensky at the Rittenhouse. The Philadelphia Freedoms tennis-team owner hosted Wednesday night's Coaches vs. Cancer Women for Wellness benefit at the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Education Center in East Falls.
Flyers right wing Claude Giroux was among those getting a preview of the new Shake Shack (20th & Sansom) Tuesday night. The burger/shake spot opened Wednesday.
The Honorable Teresa Sarmina, now presiding over the Catholic child-sex-abuse cover-up case of Monsignor William Lynn and purported perv priest James Brennan, attended a Cozen O'Connor law-firm party at the Barnes on Tuesday night.
District Attorney Seth Williams and his former boss Lynne Abraham, not exactly BFFs, were also among the crowd.
No more ‘Love' for Leo
So much for recent Drexel grad Leo Borriello on NBC's "Love in the Wild."
He was one of the first castoffs on the dating/adventure reality series that premiered Tuesday night. We asked Boriello, a marketing and legal studies major, last month whether he had done anything on the show that would upset his new bosses at JP Morgan Chase in Wilmington, and he said he didn't think so. But he upset Tara, the woman he was paired with, enough that she sent him packing right away. Manayunk's Jenny Blatt is still holding strong on the series on which we hear another local is among several more surprise women who join the show next Tuesday.
Singer in BET contest
West Philly reggae artist TEFF, a/k/a Travis Johnson, is among 100 finalists in BET's Next Big Music Star contest. He was in Barcelona, Spain, when the BET auditions were held in Philadelphia, so he traveled to Memphis, Tenn., to audition. Now he's asking people to vote for him, once a day, through Sunday at betmst.com.
