Motorcyclist killed in White Horse Pike crash

Posted: June 08, 2012

A 40-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision with a van early Thursday on the White Horse Pike in Clementon.

Police Lt. Charles Grover said the motorcycle was traveling west when it collided with the van, which was turning onto the highway from Atlantic Avenue around 6 a.m. The motorcyclist, who police said was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at Kennedy University Hospital-Stratford. His identity was withheld pending notification of his family.

The driver of the van, a 29-year-old Clementon man, and his 21-year-old male passenger, also of Clementon, were treated at Virtua Berlin, Grover said. He said police did not know if they were wearing seat belts and declined to release their names. There was no indication the van ran a stop sign, he said, but the accident was still under investigation.
